The Communication Design (CD) program aims to develop a keen understanding and mastery of communication design principles, theories, and skills. We define Communication Design in broad terms, ranging from printed work to interactive displays, all of which serve to inform, educate, and interact with people/users. The CD program teaches a problem-solving approach to communication, with a special concern for the people affected by any designed/ structured communication.
Communication Design is a professional program for students who want to explore the new skills of communication and the creative potential of the interchange between words and images in traditional and innovative media. The program aims to prepare students for professional employment as communication planners and designers.
In the Industrial Design program, students are sensitized by going through research areas like User Study & Market Research pertaining to their topics resulting in holistic design solutions. Attention to detail is attended to by making them aware of industrial materials and processes that go into making an industrial product. Students are equipped with software skills for visualization & documentation, which are relevant to the industry and help them create realistic products digitally. There is constant industry interaction through site visits and guest lectures, which keeps students aware of current developments in the industry. They are also encouraged to participate in competitions and seminars.
The Fashion Design program at SID provides students with a comprehensive vision where students gain practical hands-on experience in their course, enabling them to confidently enter career paths in fashion design, pattern making, garment manufacturing, craft studies, fashion merchandising and so on. This is ensured by a team of professional faculty who instruct, inspire and mentor students utilizing their technical and design expertise while also encouraging the development of individual style. This has ensured that SID holds a coveted position among the top fashion design schools in the country. The four-year B. Des. Program in Fashion Design provides students with a well-rounded knowledge of Indian as well as the global fashion industry that encompasses design, trends, manufacturing, marketing and retail. Fashion Communication is one of the newest, most exciting avenues to open up in the fashion and lifestyle industry. With globalization, a number of prêt and luxury brands are mushrooming in the Indian retail market. In today’s competitive scenario, the success of a brand is measured by its unique identity and communication, thus creating a great demand for fashion communication experts. The Fashion Communication programme covers areas such as graphic design, visual merchandising, exhibition and space design, event design and art direction, branding and publication design, fashion forecasting and styling specific to the fashion and lifestyle industry. Upon graduation, the students are well versed with the knowledge to interrogate fashion through research and practice and contribute to the future direction of fashion and lifestyle industries. Graduates find employment as fashion stylists, retail space designers, visual merchandisers, event designers, art directors, fashion forecasters and graphic designers.

The overall life experience at SID was quite positive and filled with extremely approachable teachers. Mentoring & guidance was extremely professional & of critical nature which helped me a lot in pushing the paradigm. Practical learning and field visits were constant companions.
Symbiosis Institute of Design offers different courses in design, all of which are very interesting. The Foundation year is the beginning of the journey into the design world. In the years ahead, the process of learning becomes more symbiotic and focused on a particular specialization. Looking back at the end of four years, it is amazing to see the extent of change and maturity in thinking and realize how far you have come.
SID is a brilliant platform for budding designers from cross fields, the best part out here is that you not only learn from the stream that you have chosen but from other design related streams as well since it’s multi-disciplinary. The viman nagar campus is away from the hustle and bustle of the city, it’s an ideal place for your creative spirit to bud. Also there's a great opportunity to learn a lot about how the industry works cause of the seminars that take place and it’s really nice to see the faculties to be so friendly and how they are taking a step ahead every time by motivating us to do our best. Over all it’s a great opportunity to be a part of SID and how it helps to get the best out of you.
Life as a student at Symbiosis is the perfect learning experience. It is learning about people and their worlds, finding opportunities and making the best out of them. It is learning design by the most talented set of warm and friendly tutors in a campus so colorful, that talented designers, dreamers and doers from all over the world come to our campus to inspire us and share their thoughts and success stories with us. It’s a journey of a life time.
4 years went like a roller coaster ride in college and I have a lot of memories from them.College gave me an example of how to go beyond my potential to become something better than myself. It taught me photography, it taught me about design, it helped me master my skills and some values that you need to learn in your life.
